BALTIMORE – Bob Carpenter, Publisher of Inside Lacrosse Magazine, has announced that the Cornell men's lacrosse team will participate in one of the premier lacrosse events of the regular season, as it faces Virginia at the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 1:30 p.m.

“We're really happy to participate in the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic,” said Ben DeLuca, The Richard M. Moran Head Coach of Men's Lacrosse. “I think this is going to be a great game and I'm excited that it's going to be played on the big stage at M&T Bank Stadium in an event the caliber of the Face-Off Classic. It's great for the Cornell lacrosse program to participate in an event that draws so many fans and has the potential for national television exposure.”

The game between Cornell and the Cavaliers will be the fourth meeting between the two teams since the beginning of the 2009 season. During that span, Virginia has won both regular season meetings, but the Big Red earned a convincing 15-6 victory in the 2009 NCAA national semifinals. In the all-time series dating back to the first meeting in 1971, the Cavaliers own a 6-3 record against Cornell.

The 2011 Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic is a tripleheader that will also feature a game between Syracuse and Georgetown at 11 a.m., as well as a contest between Johns Hopkins and UMBC at 4 p.m.

Now in its fifth year, the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic gives fans the chance to celebrate the start of another season by placing many of the nation's top-ranked teams on the same field on the same day. Last year, the event drew 19,742 fans to M&T Bank Stadium.

Information on ticket packages as well as on-sale dates will be made available in October. The latest news and information regarding the plans for the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic will be posted first on www.InsideLacrosse.com.
