ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell scored four goals in the span of 5:50 in the first period and eased to a 6-0 victory in a women's hockey game on Saturday afternoon at Lynah Rink in Ithaca. Brianne Jenner and Hayley Hughes both scored a pair of goals in the victory as Cornell won its 18th straight game and remained unbeaten in ECAC Hockey play.

Catherine White and Karlee Overguard added goals, while Lauriane Rougeau, Jessica Campbell and Chelsea Karpenko had a pair of assists each. White, Hayley Cudmore and Laura Fortino each had one assist for the Big Red (22-1, 16-0 ECAC Hockey). Lauren Slebodnick stopped nine shots for her fifth shutout of the season. Cornell went 1-for-5 on the power play while killing off all three Rensselaer power plays.

Sonja van der Bliek stopped 30 shots in the contest for the Engineers, who fell to 9-12-6 on the year and 7-8-1 in league play.

Jenner got the Big Red on the board first at the 6:04 mark of the first period, being sprung on a short-handed breakaway by Rougeau and firing a wrist shot over the shoulder of van der Bliek. Three and a half minutes later, it was White being released on a two-on-one from a outlet by Cudmore and beati ng the senior netminder from Rensselaer for the 2-0 lead.

Jenner added her second of the night at the 10:52 mark of the period, with Campbell and Fortino adding assists, and Hughes capping the run with her first of the night, finishing off a 3-on-2 break as Karpenko worked the puck toward the middle for White, who laid it off to Hughes, who finished easily past a sprawling van der Bliek.

Cornell capped the period by killing off a full minute's worth of a 5-on-3 power play for Rensselaer following penalties to Jenner and Alyssa Gagliardi, with Slebodnick stopping both of the shots she faced on the power play. Cornell then took the 4-0 lead into the third period, where Overguard added a power-play tally, tipping home a shot from the center point by Rougeau. Hughes then finished off the scoring at the 17:46 mark of the period, batting home a shot after a wraparound chance by Karpenko.

The Big Red returns to action on Friday, taking on Clarkson in a 7 p.m. contest at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y.
