Three Cornellians Selected To Capital One Academic All-District Football Team

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell seniors Nick Booker-Tandy and Shane Savage and junior Hugh Stewart have been named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District team for District I it was announced today. The trio joins 10 other Ivy League players who will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America.

Booker-Tandy is a repeat selection on the Academic All-District squad, though he earned that spot a season ago at running back. This year he is honored for his play at corner back, where he leads the team with three interceptions in just six games. He earned his first career start at Ivy League leader Harvard and has interceptions against Colgate, Princeton and Dartmouth. In his six contests, Booker-Tandy has recorded 16 tackles and two pass breakups. In the classroom, he has posted a 4.00 grade point average in Applied Economics and Management.

Both Savage and Stewart are first-time all-district honorees.

Savage, who ranks among the school's career leaders in every receiving category, has hauled in 50 passes for 732 yards and six touchdowns this season. Savage had a pair of receiving touchdowns in the win over Wagner and also had 152 yards and two touchdowns against Ivy leader Harvard. Savage also had a 12-catch, 163-yard effort against Brown. He has a reception in all 28 career varsity contests and has piled up 138 catches for 1,653 yards and 10 scores. In the classroom, Savage sports a 3.43 grade point average in Applied Economics and Management.

Stewart was having a dominant season at defensive tackle before suffering an injury, but still had four tackles for a loss and two sacks in just three games. He recorded a pair of sacks against Bucknell in the opener and notched six tackles vs. Wagner. Stewart has a 3.62 GPA in Applied Economics and Management.
