ITHACA, N.Y. – Six members of the Cornell women's hockey team have been named to Hockey Canada's Under-22 national team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Senior goalkeeper
Amanda Mazzotta and senior forwards
Chelsea Karpenko and
Catherine White are the three upperclassmen selected to the U-22 team, and they will be joined by three underclassmen.
Sophomore defender
Hayleigh Cudmore, sophomore forward
Jessica Campbell and freshman forward
Jillian Saulnier round out the six Cornellians named to the U-22 team.
The players will represent their home country at the 2012 Meco Cup in Füssen, Germany from Jan. 3-8. There, the Big Red will play for Canada against national teams from Germany, Sweden, Finland, Russia and Switzerland.
“I think I can speak on behalf of the six of us in saying that I am extremely excited for the opportunity to represent Canada at the Meco Cup,” said Mazzotta, whose 1.34 goals against average is sixth-best in the nation this year. “It is always an honor to wear the Team Canada jersey, and we are all honored to have been chosen as members of the U-22 team."

Brianne Jenner,
Laura Fortino and
Lauriane Rougeau as players selected by Hockey Canada at one point this year. Johnsotn, Jenner, Fortino and Rougeau are currently playing in the 4 Nations Cup for the Canadian National Team.
Cornell plays its next game on Friday night against Dartmouth in Lynah Rink. The puck will drop at 7 p.m.
