ITHACA, N.Y. – Six members of the Cornell women's hockey team have been named to Hockey Canada's Under-22 national team, the organization announced Tuesday.

Senior goalkeeper Amanda Mazzotta and senior forwards Chelsea Karpenko and Catherine White are the three upperclassmen selected to the U-22 team, and they will be joined by three underclassmen.

Sophomore defender Hayleigh Cudmore, sophomore forward Jessica Campbell and freshman forward Jillian Saulnier round out the six Cornellians named to the U-22 team.

The players will represent their home country at the 2012 Meco Cup in Füssen, Germany from Jan. 3-8. There, the Big Red will play for Canada against national teams from Germany, Sweden, Finland, Russia and Switzerland.

“I think I can speak on behalf of the six of us in saying that I am extremely excited for the opportunity to represent Canada at the Meco Cup,” said Mazzotta, whose 1.34 goals against average is sixth-best in the nation this year. “It is always an honor to wear the Team Canada jersey, and we are all honored to have been chosen as members of the U-22 team."

Those six join Rebecca Johnston, Brianne Jenner, Laura Fortino and Lauriane Rougeau as players selected by Hockey Canada at one point this year. Johnsotn, Jenner, Fortino and Rougeau are currently playing in the 4 Nations Cup for the Canadian National Team.

Cornell plays its next game on Friday night against Dartmouth in Lynah Rink. The puck will drop at 7 p.m.
