Brianne Jenner scored three goals and added a pair of assists to lead the Cornell women's hockey team to a 8-0 win over Brown on Friday night at Lynah Rink. The win secured at least a share of the 2011 Ivy League championship for the Big Red, which improved to 18-0-1 in ECAC Hockey play and 24-1-1 overall on the year.
Rebecca Johnston added two goals and a pair of assists, while
Catherine White,
Kendice Ogilvie and
Hayley Hughes each tallied a goal on the night.
Chelsea Karpenko and
Jessica Campbell both had a pair of assists, with
Lauriane Rougeau,
Amanda Young,
Laura Fortino,
Xandra Hompe,
Olivia Cook, Hughes and White each picking up one.
Katie Wilson stopped eight Brown shots for her second shutout of the season.
Brown netminder Aubree Moore stopped 40 Cornell shots in taking the loss on the night. Brown (2-20-3, 1-14-3 ECAC Hockey) finished the game scoreless in a pair of power-play chances, while Cornell went 1-for-4 with the extra skater.
Johnston put the Big Red on the scoreboard just 40 seconds into the game, skating through the Brown defense before beating Moore one-on-one for the game's first goal. Jenner added the first of her three goals at the 3:31 mark of the first period, taking a pass from Johnston behind the net and firing a shot past Moore. Then, nearly 10 minutes later, the roles were reversed, with Jenner feeding Johnston on the top of the crease from behind the net for her second goal of the game.
From there, the Big Red eased to the victory, with Jenner scoring just 1:46 into the second period. She completed her hat trick at the 9:44 mark of the second period to make the score 5-0 in favor of Cornell, and White and Ogilvie tallied goals before the end of the period to give the Big Red a 7-0 lead after two periods. Hughes then scored with 44 seconds in the third period to cap the scoring for the Big Red on the night.
Cornell closes out the home portion of the regular season on Saturday, taking on Yale in a 4 p.m. contest at Lynah Rink. Following the game, the four Cornell seniors -

Katie Wilson - will be honored for their contributions over the past four seasons. Additionally, $1.11 from every ticket sold for the game will be donated to the United Way.
