ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell seniors Chris Amrhein and Luke Tasker have been named the Ivy League co-Offensive Players of the Week after helping the Big Red rally for a fourth quarter win over Monmouth. The duo put up video game numbers in leading Cornell to a 41-38 shootout victory over the Hawks at Schoellkopf Field.

Without the services of the All-America tandem of Jeff Mathews and Shane Savage, Amrhein and Tasker were more than capable replacements. Amrhein completed 33-of-56 passes for 523 yards, the second-best mark in Cornell history and the third-highest total in Ivy history, with one touchdown. His favorite target, Tasker, caught 11 passes for a school-record 280 yards and a score. The 280 receiving yards was good for the third-highest total in Ivy history. He also hauled in a pair of 30+ yard passes inside the Monmouth 5 that turned into short touchdown runs during the fourth quarter comeback. In the process, Tasker became the sixth Big Red receiver to surpass 2,000 career receiving yards.

Amrhein, making his first career start under center for the Big Red, directed an offense that didn't commit a turnover despite missing the team's three-year starting center, as well as the All-American passing duo. Tasker ended the day with 289 all-purpose yards, the third-best total in Cornell history. In all, the duo connected for seven passes of more than 20 yards, including six of more than 30 yards and two pass plays of 40 or more yards. Amrhein, a fourth year senior who had attempted just five career passes (completing two for nine yards with an interception) directed three fourth quarter scoring drives and completed a pass on third-and-6 with 40 seconds left to allow Cornell to run the clock out in a shootout.

The Big Red return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 12:30 p.m. when it visits Brown.
