ITHACA, N.Y. — Junior Andy Iles was named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week on Tuesday after his stellar performances in the Big Red's season-opening sweep of Colorado College last weekend.

Iles notched his seventh career shutout on Friday night in the Big Red's debut. John Esposito scored a pair of power-play goals, and Iles stopped all 19 shots fired his way in a 2-0 victory. All seven of his career shutouts have come in a 31-game span, moving him up to a tie for sixth on the program's list of career totals with Errol McKibbon (1963-66) and Brian Cropper (1968-71). Ben Scrivens leads the list with 19 career shutouts.

Iles earned another victory Saturday, making 21 saves in a 3-2 win over Colorado College. He helped the Big Red to a perfect 8-for-8 mark on penalty kills over the weekend. This is the third time Iles has won the league's goaltender of the week award. The other two occasions came last season, Nov. 22 and Dec. 5, during Iles' league-record shutout streak.

The last shutout posted by Iles prior to last weekend was against Colgate, whom the Big Red will see twice this weekend in the teams' ECAC Hockey debuts. Friday's game at Starr Rink in Hamilton will be followed by a rematch on Saturday night at Lynah Rink. Both games are slated for a 7 p.m. face off.
