NEW YORK — The men's tennis team wrapped up a spectacular weekend at the Columbia Classic, winning six of eight bracket titles – including a sweep of all three main singles draws. Freshman
Dragos Dima won A Singles, sophomore
Quoc-Daniel Nguyen took the B Singles crown, and junior
Spencer Clark defeated a teammate for the C Singles title.
Dima was seeded second in the event, defeating Columbia's Dragos Ignat – the third seed – on Sunday, 6-2, 6-2. Nguyen won his second straight three-set match to finish atop the B field with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Fordham's Emilio Mora. Clark topped teammate Alex Wilton in a marathon C Singles finale, 7-6, 6-7, 7-5.
In doubles, top-seeded sophomores
Sam Fleck and Nguyen defeated Fairfield's Ian Tesmond and Erik Kremheller, 8-3, to win the A Doubles championship. Sophomores
Alex Sidney and
Kyle Berman won the A and B Singles Consolation finals, respectively.
AFTER SATURDAY'S PLAY

Dima, who is seeded second in the A Singles bracket, defeated Marist's Lorenzo Rossi, 6-4, 7-6, to open play on Friday, then he secured more comfortable straight-set victories on Saturday. He ousted Columbia's Bert Vancura, 6-3, 6-4, then toppled St. John's' Michael Lampa, 6-3, 6-2, in the semifinals. Dima will now take on Columbia's Dragos Ignat, the third seed, in the finals.
In B Singles, the top-seeded Nguyen will take on third-seeded Emilio Mora, of Fordham, in the championship. Nguyen defeated NJIT's Fraser Croad, 6-3, 6-4, in Friday's first round, then cruised past Fairfield's Ofir Solomon, 6-1, 6-2, to open play Saturday. Nguyen then held off St. John's' Hugo Morth, 6-3, 3-6, (10-8) to advance to the finals.
Clark ousted the top seed, Mark Mozer of St. John's, 6-4, 6-4, to advance to the C Singles final after topping Fordham's Jan Krouham, 6-2, 6-4, in earlier Saturday action. Clark will face fourth-seeded teammate Wilton in the finals after the Big Red transfer rallied to defeat NJIT's Holger Norregaard and Marist's Joe Dube in three-set matches.
Sophomore
Sam Fleck and Nguyen have also marched on to the finals of A Doubles after defeating the St. John's team of Lampa and Morth, 8-6, in Saturday's semifinal.

Alex Sidney has also advanced to the finals of the A Singles Consolation bracket, and sophomore
Kyle Berman will take on NJIT's Croad in the B Singles Consolation championship match.
