Full Canada U-22 Roster
ITHACA, N.Y. – The international honors continue for Big Red women's hockey as seven current players have been selected for the Canadian Under-22 team that will compete in the 2013 Meco Cup in Germany in early January.
Four Big Red defensemen made the cut, including senior captain
Lauriane Rougeau, alternate captain
Laura Fortino, junior
Hayleigh Cudmore and freshman
Cassandra Poudrier.
Also earning spots are three Cornell forwards: Junior
Brianne Jenner, who played with the Senior Women's National Team at the 4 Nations Cup earlier this month, junior
Jessica Campbell and sophomore
Jillian Saulnier.
Of the seven players who will be taking part, Cudmore, Campbell and Saulnier were on the Meco Cup roster for Canada last year. Also making the roster last year were then-seniors
Chelsea Karpenko '12,
Amanda Mazzotta '12 and
Catherine White '12.
The Meco Cup, featuring the Under-22 national teams from Germany, Russia, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden and Canada, will be held from Jan. 2-6 in four cities across Germany. Canada opens play on Jan. 2 with an exhibition against Germany before starting group play Jan. 3 against Switzerland.
Round robin play progresses through Jan. 5, with playoff games on Jan. 6.
Four other players on Canada's Meco Cup roster are current members of ECAC Hockey, including Harvard's Sarah Edney, Clarkson's Erin Ambrose and Jamie Lee Rattray and Dartmouth's Laura Stacey.
The Big Red women's team will return to action this weekend on a seven-game winning streak, taking on Dartmouth and Harvard in their buildings.
