ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell junior Rachel Sorna and senior co-captain Katie Kellner earned All-America status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday after finishing in the top 40 at the National Championship in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday afternoon.

Sorna, who was Cornell's top runner once during the year prior to Saturday, crossed the finish line first for the Big Red in the biggest race of the season. Taking 34th place overall and scoring 25 points for Cornell, Sorna completed the six kilometer race in 20:12.0.

Just behind her was Kellner, who was the Big Red's best finisher in every race last season and all but one this year. Kellner placed 36th and scored 27 points, coming in at 20:12.8.

Sorna and Kellner were two of just three Ivy League women who earned All-America status. Cornell's last All-American was Laura Woeller, who finished the 1993 national championship in 26th place. Cornell's last year with two All-America athletes was in 1992 when Pam Hunt and Loren Mooney finished in the top 25.
