Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 2 Big Red women's hockey team could not work its comeback magic for the second consecutive day, falling 3-1 at No. 7 Harvard on Saturday evening for its first conference loss of the year.
Cornell (9-2, 7-1 ECAC Hockey) got a second-period goal from
Erin Barley-Maloney to knot the game at 1-1, but Harvard (6-1, 6-0) scored twice in the third period to remain undefeated in league play and keep pace with Clarkson, which is also in second place at 6-0.
Kalley Armstrong had the game-winning goal at the 7:42 mark of the third period, and Lyndsey Fry had an empty-netter with under two minutes to go in the game to seal the victory.
Barley-Maloney's goal, her first of the year, came thanks to
Lauriane Rougeau's 10
th assist of the season and a secondary assist by
Jillian Saulnier, who had the game-winner on Friday night at Dartmouth.
Lauren Slebodnick played in goal for the second consecutive night and had 30 saves for the Big Red.
The Big Red returns to action on the road next weekend when it takes on St. Lawrence and Clarkson.
