Full List of Nominees

ITHACA, N.Y. – Four Cornell women's hockey players have been named nominees for the Patty Kazmaier Award, the highest individual honor in women's college hockey.

Senior Rebecca Johnston, juniors Laura Fortino and Lauriane Rougeau and sophomore Brianne Jenner all made the cut to the final 30 student-athletes.

Johnston, a senior, is the team's leading scorer with 49 points. She has more points than anyone in ECAC Hockey and has scored five game-winning goals for the Big Red this year. Her 1.81 points per game put her eighth in the country in that category and her 0.85 goals per game make her ninth in that category.

Johnston was a top-10 finalist for this award in 2009 and 2011. During the 2010 season, she took the year off from college hockey to play for Team Canada in the Vancouver Olympics and win a gold medal.

Fortino and Rougeau are blue-line partners for the Big Red, teaming up to be part of the Cornell defense that has allowed just 45 goals this year, a number smaller than any other team in the country. They were two of just five defensemen to make the cut out of the 30 nominees.

Fortino has 32 points on five goals and 27 assists this year and is the country's best scoring defenseman with 1.19 points per game. Her 27 assists leads all defensemen in ECAC  Hockey by eight, and her +38 plus/minus rating is only equaled by Rougeau.

Rougeau has also tallied five goals this season and racked up 17 assists to place sixth in the league among defensemen for points. Her 17 assists put her in a tie for third among conference defensemen this year.

Playing on the top scoring line with Johnston for most of the year, Jenner has racked up an impressive 47 points this season that puts her second in ECAC Hockey among all players. Her 31 assists put her atop the league in that category, and she sits at 11th in the nation in points per game (1.78). Only a sophomore, Jenner was fifth in the league this season with a +32 plus/minus rating and had four game-winning goals.

Held in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Frozen Four, the 2012 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award will be awarded at a brunch ceremony on March 17 at the Greysolon Ballroom in Duluth, Minn.

The Big Red's four Patty Kazmaier nominees will have a chance to bolster their résumés this weekend with an ECAC Hockey Tournament Quarterfinal series against Brown.
