2/29/2012 8:26:00 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Coming off a breakout meet last weekend, the Cornell gymnastics team will attempt to continue to score high when it plays host to a quad meet featuring Rutgers, Eastern Michigan and Temple at Teagle Gymnasium. Action begins at 12 p.m. The final home meet of the year will allow the Big Red to honor seniors Tiffany Chen, Kaitlin Hardy, Bethan Neczypor and Melanie Standridge.

Cornell finished second at the Ivy Classic last weekend at Newman Arena, with senior Tiffany Chen capturing the Ivy title on vault. It was the team's eighth straight year of placing in the top two at the championship. To do so, the Big Red needed to score a season-high 191.875. That came after six consecutive meets scoring between 188.675 and 189.900.

The Big Red and the Temple Owls have seen each other once this season, with Cornell finishing fourth (188.950) and Temple placing sixth (187.450) at the 2012 Lindsey Ferris Invitational at George Washington in mid-January. Cornell last saw Rutgers at the Scarlet Knight Invitational last March. Rutgers scored a 194.350 to finish first in the five-team event, while Cornell was the runner-up with a 191.550. The Big Red last ran into EMU in Ithaca in 2006, with the Eagles winning a tri-meet with Cornell and Temple.
