ITHACA, N.Y. -- With four meets in the book, few gymnastics teams in the country have been as consistent on a weekly basis as the Big Red. Now the Big Red will attempt to take a leap forward and break the 190.000 barrier this weekend when it welcomes Ithaca College, Southern Connecticut State and West Chester to Teagle Gymnasium for the Big Red Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m.

Cornell has scored between 188.675 and 189.900 in each meet, with its high water mark coming last weekend in its home opener, a tri-meet with Penn and SUNY Brockport. Mackenzie Sato posted the meet's highest score on floor with a 9.775 on floor to lead a 1-2-4 finish for the Big Red on the mat. Tiffany Chen was second with a 9.750, while Samantha VanderPutten was fourth with her 9.725. On bars, Ashley Maher and Melanie Jorgensen tied for second with twin 9.725's, while Elise Kerner was fourth with a 9.625. McKenna Archer placed third on vault with a 9.750  and also had the highest beam score with a 9.450, good for seventh overall.

The Big Red last hosted the invitational in 2010, finishing second among five teams with Bridgeport taking home the team crown. Cornell has commanding leads in the all-time series with both Ithaca (31-13) and West Chester (9-1-1), but is 0-2 in the series history with Southern Connecticut State.
