Brackets After Session III
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Big Red wrestling team is in second place after Session III at the NCAA tournament on Friday afternoon. Cornell advances four wrestlers to the semifinals including
Frank Perrelli (125),
Kyle Dake (157),
Steve Bosak (184) and
Cam Simaz (197). All four wrestlers have secured All-America honors. Dake pinned his third opponent of the championships in the quarters to become a three-time All-American. Simaz is now a four-time All-American for the Big Red. Sophomore
Mike Nevinger is working his way back through the wrestlebacks.

At 125 pounds, Perrelli faced Pitt's Anthony Zanetta in the quarterfinals. Perrelli notched two takedowns, added an opening escape and riding time to win a 6-3 decision. The Big Red senior earned his first All-America honor with the win. He will wrestle in the semifinals tonight against the 10
th seed Nicholas Megaludis from Penn State. Megaludis advances after winning a 7-4 decision over No. 2 Zachary Sanders of Minnesota. Perrelli has faced Megaludis twice this season and won both matches. He took on the Nittany Lion wrestler at the Southern Scuffle winning a 9-3 and a 6-4 decision.
Dake picked up his third pin of the tournament in 4:10 over Bloomburg's Frank Hickman in the quarters. He will face American's Ganbayar Sanjaa who is the fifth seed. Sanjaa won a 7-3 decision in the quarters to advance. Dake won a 4-0 decision over Sanjaa at last year's NCAA tournament.
At 184 pounds, Bosak earned his second All-America status with a 1-0 decision over the fifth seeded Kevin Steinhaus of Minnesota. The Big Red junior notched the only point of the bout with an escape to open the second period. Bosak will face the No. 9 seed Austin Trotman in the semifinals. Trotman defeated No. 1 seeded Joe LeBlanc of Wyoming, 12-9, in the quarters.
Bosak defeated Trotman by a 2-0 decision at the Southern Scuffle in January.
Simaz earned his fourth All-America honor with an 8-2 decision over Wyoming's Alfonzo Hernandez. The Big Red senior will take on Cayle Byers of Oklahoma State in the semis. Byers defeated Nebraska's James Nakashima, 5-4, in the quarters. Byers, a transfer from George Mason, met Simaz in the finals of the Southern Scuffle last season. Simaz won a 5-4 decision in the tiebrakers.
Nevinger will compete in the wrestlebacks on Friday night. The Big Red sophomore picked up vital bonus points for Cornell in both of his matches in Session III. Nevinger opened the morning by pinning Adam Krop of Princeton in 2:01 before winning an 11-2 major decision over seventh seeded Nick Nelson of Virginia. Nevinger will take on ninth seeded Nick Dardanes of Minnesota. Nevinger defeated Dardanes, 9-6, in a dual in November.
In other Big Red action today,
Nick Arujau (133) lost an 8-2 decision to Navy's Aaron Kalil, while Peppelman (165) lost a 7-1 decision to ninth seeded Conrad Polz of Illinois. At heavyweight, senior
Maciej Jochym dropped a 9-2 decision to Columbia's Kevin Lester.
