BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Cornell placed three gymnasts in individual event finals at the 2012 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships at Bridgeport and all three delivered with their final performances, each putting an exclamation mark on the season with All-America efforts. Reigning USAG national champion
Melanie Standridge finished second on beam, while
McKenna Archer placed third on vault.
Melanie Jorgensen tied for seventh on bars.
In her final collegiate meet, Standridge did all she could to get on the podium one last time and did just that, as her 9.850 was bested by only Bridgeport's Monica Mesalles Sallares (9.875). She finishes her Big Red carer with three USAG All-America accolades and the 2011 beam title.
Archer posted an impressive 9.8875 on her two vaults to finish third behind Mesalles Sallares (9.925) and Texas Woman's Bethany Larimer (9.9125), both of whom averaged better than 9.9.
Jorgensen, also a USAG titleist a year ago, scored a 9.750 on bars. Though just .1 behind eventual champion Courtney Cochefski of Texas Woman's, Jorgensen finished in a tie for seventh.
