PARK CITY, Utah – Former Cornell men's lacrosse player
Chris Langton '12, has been named one of 11 push athletes named to the 2013-14 U.S. men's bobsled national team following a series of four selection races. The national team will race in eight World Cup events starting the week of Nov. 24 in Calgary, Canada before culminating in Sochi, Russia for the Winter Olympic Games.
Langton wrapped up his Cornell playing career as the Big Red's lone selection to the North/South game in 2012. A second-team All-Ivy selection, the Melrose, Mass. native ran on the Big Red's first offensive midfield and posted a career-high 18 goals during his senior season. One of the fastest and most athletic players in the Ivy League, he also handed out two assists and picked up 19 ground balls. Of his 18 goals, two were man-up tallies and two were game-winners, including the overtime goal in Cornell's 9-8 victory over Denver.
Langton joins his older brother Steve, a 2010 Olympian and 2013 World Champion, on the team. An outstanding all-around athlete, Langton was a four-year letter winner in track and field at Northfield Mount Hermon School and set the state record and earned All-American honors in the shuttle hurdle relay in 2006. Langton was also a New England Champion and Class A State Champion in the 4x200-meter relay.
