Gymnastics Goes High To Finish Second at Towson

TOWSON, Md. -- Junior Alexis Schupp posted the meet's highest score on bars, but Towson was able to pass the Big Red on the final rotation to take home the title at the four-team Shelli Calloway Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Cornell posted a season-high 192.250, but fell just short of the Tigers' 193.275.

Schupp finished first among 24 competitors on bars with her 9.725. She was among three Big Red gymnasts in the top five and four in the top seven on the event. Elise Kerner tied for third with a 9.675.

Cornell had no worse than a second place finish individually on every event, with Madeline Martinez leading three Big Red gymnasts in the top five on vault with her 9.750. Hannah Clark was the runner-up on beam at 9.775 and Sarah Hein was second on floor at 9.825.

Cornell won the team event on bars with a 47.950. The team's 48.300 on vault was  and 48.600 team score on floor placed second among the fourt teams at the meet.
