ITHACA, N.Y. – Another terrific week for the Cornell Big Red and
Brianne Jenner resulted in the junior receiving the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week Award for the second time this season.
Jenner had another double-digit point week, tallying 10 total points in three games against No. 7 Mercyhurst, Union and Rensselaer. She tied a season and career high with six points against the Dutchwomen on Friday night, recording four goals and two assists.
She had two goals against the Lakers on Tuesday to start a Cornell rally, and she ended her week with a goal and an assist against the Engineers. Jenner is also on an 11-game point streak and an eight-game streak of scoring at least two points in a game.
Jenner is now third in the country in points per game (2.38), second in goals per game (1.24) and sixth in assists per game (1.14). She has 50 points on the season and is eight points shy of her single-season high, 58, set last year.
Jenner is also rapidly moving up the career charts at Cornell. She jumped from 11th to eighth this week in career goals, passing
Chelsea Karpenko '12 and
Catherine White '12 with her 69th goal. She is also now alone in seventh on the career points list, as she leapt by Amy Stanzin '86 with her 158th point over the weekend. She needs just three more assists to move from eighth to sixth in Cornell history.
Tuesday marked Jenner's third ECAC Hockey Player of the Week award this season. She last claimed the honor on Jan. 22. She won twice last year and won Rookie of the Week three times during her freshman campaign. She was also named the league's Player of the Month for January.
Jenner and the Big Red have another important conference series this weekend, traveling to Quinnipiac and Princeton on Friday and Saturday. Cornell is alone in second place in the league standings and will be looking to keep pace with league-leader Harvard before the teams meet in Lynah Rink on Feb. 15.
