ITHACA, N.Y. – The Big Red men's soccer program announced its season awards at its year-end banquet on Saturday night with multiple Cornell players earning awards.

Haber, a junior forward and the country's leading scorer, earned the Clive Beckford Most Valuable Player award. The award is given annually to the player who, in the opinion of his teammates, typifies the outstanding ability, spirit and determination dedicated by Beckford, the captain of the 1958 squad. Haber finished the season with 2.53 points per game and 1.06 goals per game, both numbers that were best in the nation. He was Cornell's first ever Ivy League Player of the Year, and he was also named a First Team All-American.

Senior Tyler Regan brought home the Charles Berman Award, handed out to the team's most improved player. Regan had four goals and six assists last year for 14 total points, the highest total of his Big Red career. Regan was instrumental on the forward line alongside Haber.

The team's Nicky Bawlf Memorial Award, handed out to the senior on the roster who has contributed the most to Cornell soccer, was given to goalkeeper Rick Pflasterer. A two-time All-Ivy First Team goalie, Pflasterer had another terrific year for Cornell in recording all 15 of its wins in his 17 starts. Pflasterer had a goals against average of 0.77 and a .755 save percentage.

Senior Nico Nissl claimed the John Penniman Award given to the player who displays excellence in personal discipline and character. The Big Red's central midfielder all year, Nissl scored his third career goal during the campaign and recorded a team-high eight assists while exhibiting incredible leadership on and off the field. Nissl was also given the Peter Pakeman VIP Award, a new award for the Big Red this year. The award is given out for a player's versatility, impact and performance on the field. The award is named after Peter Pakeman, a Cornell Athletics Hall of Famer whose versatility allowed him to win First Team All-Ivy awards at three different positions in his career in the 1980s.

Freshman Ben Feldman and sophomore Conor Goepel came away with the Harold Shapiro Memorial Award given to the player who overcomes the most physical and mental adversity throughout the season. Feldman, who was injured on his first touch of the ball this season, came back to play in three games for Cornell. Goepel was a key contributor on offense, and his six goals were second-most on the roster.

Cornell's Strength and Conditioning Award, doled out to the player who displays excellence in the gym, was awarded to juniors Jake Rinow and Ben Williams. Defensive stalwarts for the Big Red, both Rinow and Williams were named captains for the 2013 season.
