ITHACA, N.Y. – It will come as no surprise to anyone who watched the Cornell men's lacrosse team's 17-11 victory over Princeton at the Big City Classic that Big Red senior Rob Pannell has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week, earning the honor for the fourth time this season.  The award marks the 11th time in Pannell's career that he has been named the conference's player of the week.

Pannell, who was recently named a nominee for the 2013 Tewaaraton Trophy, was an unstoppable force against the Tigers, registering five unassisted goals and handing out four assists. He had a hand in five of Cornell's first eight tallies as the Big Red built an insurmountable 8-1 lead midway through the second period.

He also scooped up four ground balls and didn't register a single turnover on the day.

With his performance against Princeton, Pannell moved into third place in NCAA Division I history for both career points (323) and career assists (190). He owns the longest goal scoring streak (33 games) and point scoring streak (68 games) in the nation and currently has a streak of 22 games in which he has registered at least three points.

Pannell and the Big Red will host to the Ivy League Tournament for the third time in four years as the number-one seed and will face number-four Princeton on Friday, May 3 at 8 p.m. Number-two seed Yale will face number-three seed Penn at 5 p.m. The championship game will take place on Sunday, May 5 at 11 a.m. The semifinal games will be available on-line at ESPN3, while the championship game will be televised to a nation-wide audience on ESPNU.
