ITHACA, N.Y. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has ranked the Cornell women's cross country team at No. 10 in its national preseason poll for the 2013 season. This is the highest national preseason ranking for a cross country program at Cornell; men or women.
In 2012, the Big Red started with a national preseason ranking of 30. Building success throughout the season, Cornell finished thirteenth at the NCAA Championship in Terre Haute, Ind.
In the Northeast region the Big Red garnered a No. 2 preseason ranking for 2013 from the USTFCCCA behind only Big East contender and regional champion, Providence. Cornell finished third at the NCAA Regional Championship last November.
The Big Red will open its 2013 campaign on Sept. 13 on the Moakley Course in Ithaca with a dual meet against Army.
