ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Big Red gymnastics team posted a season-high team score and stayed competitive with Rutgers on three events as part of a 192.625 afternoon on Saturday afternoon at Teagle Gymnasium. The Scarlet Knights took home the dual meet win with a 195.825.
Lexi Schupp had a strong day against the potent Rutgers lineup, placing third on both bars (9.800) and floor (9.800). Her younger sister Sara had the team's top day on vault in fifth with a 9.775, while
Melanie Jorgensen was fifth on beam (9.825).
Other top five finishers included
Elana Molotsky and
Sarah Wetter with matching 9.775s on bars for a third place tie and
Mackenzie Sato in fifth on floor with a 9.775.
Cornell gave the visiting Scarlet Knights strong efforts on vault, bars and floor, but Rutgers separated itself with a two-point advantage on beam.
The Big Red will head to William & Mary next Saturday, March 8 at 4 p.m. for a dual meet before closing dual meet season at home against West Chester on Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
