ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell gymnastics team further solidified its standing among USAG Collegiate National team qualifiers by posting its third consecutive effort over its season average in a dual meet win over West Chester on Senior Day at Teagle Hall Gymnasium. The Big Red scored a 191.825 to top the Rams by more than two full points.

Seniors Melanie Jorgensen and Lexi Schupp each earned event wins in their final collegiate home meets, with Jorgensen's 9.800 on bars the best score of the day and Schupp's 9.800 on floor leading the pack. Jorgensen was second to Schupp on floor with a 9.725, while she also finished second on beam (9.600) and third on vault (9.600) for a 38.725 all-around score. That total was just .025 short of her career high, which is the second-best total in school history.

Sara Schupp was Cornell's top finisher on vault, placing second (9.675), while her sister Lexi was fourth (9.600). Nikki Shofner (9.675) and Elise Kerner (9.675) tied for fourth on bars and both Krystin Chiellini (fourth, 9.500) and Maia Vernacchia (fifth, 9.450) were top five finishers on beam. Elana Molotsky was the Big Red's third top-five finisher on floor (fourth, 9.700), joining Schupp and Jorgensen.

The Big Red returns to action on Saturday, March 22 when it competes in the ECAC Championship at Temple University.
