Cassandra Poudrier were named to the 22-player Canadian National Women's Development Team for the 2016 Nations Cup, Hockey Canada announced Wednesday. The Nations Cup, previously called the Air Canada Cup, MLP Cup and Meco Cup, will take place from Jan. 4-7 in Füssen, Germany.
Team Canada, 10-time gold medalist at the Nations Cup, will face off against national teams from Finland, Germany, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland, beginning with a preliminary round game against Sweden on Monday, Jan. 4 at 9 a.m. EST.
Players were chosen based on their performances with their current club teams, at Canada's National Women's Development Team selection camp this past summer and at the Canada's National Women's Team Fall Festival in September. Poudrier won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2015 Nations Cup, while Hart was the only player selected from the 2015 IIHF U18 Women's World Champion silver medal team.
ECAC Hockey is well represented on the roster, with Erin Ambrose (Clarkson), Karly Heffernan (Harvard), Shannon MacAulay (Clarkson), Cayley Mercer (Clarkson) and Laura Stacey (Dartmouth) also making the squad.
In addition, Amanda Mazzotta '12 will serve as the team's goaltending coach for the tournament.
