POTSDAM, N.Y. – Senior captain
Brianne Jenner took home ECAC Hockey Player of the Year honors at the league's annual awards banquet, hosted on Friday evening in the Camp Atrium on the campus of Clarkson University. It is the second time that Jenner has taken home the honor of the conference's top player – she also went home with the award in 2013 – becoming the first player in program history to win the award multiple times.
Jenner capped her fantastic Cornell career with another excellent season. She led the conference in points, tallying 14 goals and a league-high 31 assists during the regular season. The senior center also was named ECAC Hockey Forward of the Year and First Team All-ECAC Hockey selection, marking the fourth straight season she has earned the recognition. She joins Cornell alums Rebecca Johnston (2008-11) and Lauriane Rougeau (2010-13) as the only other Big Red players to be named to the First Team four times. The awards reception caps a sweep for Jenner, as she also was named Ivy League Player of the Year and a First Team All-Ivy selection in the Ancient Eight's release last week.
Cornell was well represented on the all-conference teams. Joining Jenner as a First Team All-ECAC Hockey selection was senior winger
Jillian Saulnier. It marked the second straight season that Saulnier appeared on the conference's top team. Although she missed the better part of six-games during the regular season, she still finished third in the league in scoring with 37 points. Saulnier played a huge role down the stretch, as she averaged 2.00 points per game over the final nine contests to conclude the regular season.
The Big Red also earned Second Team All-ECAC Hockey recognition on the evening, as senior winger
Emily Fulton and freshman blue-liner
Erin O'Connor were recognized by the league. Fulton was Cornell's top goal scorer during the regular season, finishing tied for the conference lead with 20 goals on the year, while finishing second to Jenner with 42 points overall. She was named a First Team All-Ivy selection last week. It is the second straight season that Fulton appeared on the ECAC Hockey Second Team.
O'Connor has put together a fantastic rookie campaign, leading all of the conference's defenders with seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points during the regular season. In addition to her Second Team All-ECAC Hockey selection, she also appeared on the league's All-Rookie Team. The young blue-liner also seamlessly stepped into a key role as the squad's point pivot on Cornell's potent powerplay unit. She finished with four powerplay goals and 11 powerplay points on the season. She was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year and a Second Team All-Ivy selection last week.
