Brown Edges Out Women's Swimming & Diving In Final Race

ITHACA, N.Y. -- In a dual meet that came down to the final relay, Brown sealed a 156-143 win over Cornell thanks to a pool-record performance on Saturday afternoon at Teagle Gymnasium. The Big Red closed dual meet season with a 3-6 record (1-6 Ivy).

Needing to claim the top two spots in the final relay, Cornell took second and third after the Bears lowered the pool record in the 400 free relay by more than a second with its 3:25.42. The loss did nothing to overshadow the four-member senior class honored prior to the meet and an outstanding showing heading into preparations for the Ivy League Championships.

Currie Murch Elliot got Cornell on the board with a 1-2-3 sweep in the 1,000 free, as her time of 10:23.19 was more than six seconds clear of runner-up Lizzy Thayer. She later came back to win the 200 IM as part of a 1-2-3 Big Red sweep. Hannah Bollinger (1:52.36) won the 200 free moments later, holding off teammate Anna Elling (1:52.53), while Helen Hsu led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 back with her time of 57.58. Bollinger also won the 500 free (5:04.99)

Victoria Kuhn won the 200 back in 2:04.48, ahead of teammate and runner-up Hsu (2:05.22).

Cornell returns to competition when the Ivy League championship meet kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 18 at Princeton.
