Max Seibald ’09 Authors The ABCs of Boys’ Lacrosse

ITHACA, N.Y. – Former Cornell men's lacrosse standout Max Seibald '09 has authored a children's book, The ABCs of Boys' Lacrosse, which was released by Mascot Books this past September. The 2009 Tewaaraton Trophy winner wrote the book along with Joanna Cook Kjellman, the mother of former Northwestern star and two-time Tewaaraton winner Kristen Kjellman Marshall.

Seibald, who has two young nephews, was inspired to take on the project when he was unable to find any children's books about lacrosse. The book uses vivid illustrations to introduce lacrosse terms, as well as emphasizing the sports heritage and fun, while reinforcing knowledge of the alphabet.

"I put a lot of effort into deciding which word to use for each letter," says Seibald. "Some letters have so many lacrosse terms and some have very few ... But the most interesting part of the process was trying to really subtly dedicate each picture to someone who has had an impact on my career. It's not really meant for anyone else but me, but it is a cool aspect that added an extra personal touch."

Seibald is an active participant and board member of CityLax, a non-profit organization dedicated to growing lacrosse in New York City, where he currently resides.

Cook Kjellman and Kjellman Marshall also co-authored The ABCs of Girls' Lacosse.
