ITHACA, N.Y. — For the first time this season, junior
Paula Voorheis has been named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week.
Voorheis was huge for the Big Red last weekend, stopping 51 of the 53 shots she faced, including a 28-save shutout of Dartmouth on Friday to help Cornell go 2-0 on the weekend and earn a spot in the ECAC Hockey Tournament. After the 1-0 victory against the Big Green, Voorheis backstopped the Big Red to a 3-2 overtime victory over rival Harvard on Senior Day. She made a number of impressive saves in both contests and finished the weekend with a .969 save percentage and 0.99 goals-against average. The shutout, her second of the season and seventh of her career, ties her for fifth in Cornell history.
The honor marks the third time in her career that Voorheis has been tabbed Goaltender of the Week.
The Big Red heads to No. 5/5 Clarkson this weekend for a best-of-three ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal series.
