Women’s Hockey Places Five On All-Ivy Teams

ITHACA, N.Y. —Five Cornell women's hockey players have been named to All-Ivy teams for the 2015-16 season, the Ivy League announced Thursday. Junior forward Hanna Bunton, senior forward Taylor Woods, senior defenseman Cassandra Poudrier and junior goaltender Paula Voorheis were all named to the second team, while freshman defenseman Micah Hart was an honorable mention. The honor is Poudrier's second All-Ivy nod after being named an honorable mention in 2014. The Big Red finished Ivy play with a 7-2-1 record, good for second in the Ancient Eight behind Princeton at 8-2-0.

Bunton has led the team in scoring all season, finishing the regular season with 27 points on 13 goals and 14 assists. Her 103 shots on goal were also most on the team. She posted her first career hat trick and recorded four points in a 6-1 win over Mercyhurst in November and scored the game-winner in a crucial 4-2 win over Yale in the penultimate week of the regular season.

Woods, who also spent some time on defense for the Big Red, registered 17 points in the regular season with nine goals and eight assists. Woods scored a number of key goals for Cornell, including two in the final 1:16 of the game to give the Big Red a 2-1 win over nationally ranked Princeton in November. She scored in each of Cornell's wins in the Windjammer Classic, helping the team to the tournament title, and posted a three-point effort in an important 4-2 win over Brown late in the season.

A veteran defenseman, Poudrier led the team with a career-high 80 blocked shots in the regular season. In addition to her solid defensive play, Poudrier was a crucial member of Cornell's power play and penalty kill. She posted 13 points on four goals and nine assists, with six of her points coming with the man-advantage. She scored the game-winning goal against Dartmouth and recorded a point in three of Cornell's last regular season games, all against Ivy League teams.

Voorheis was solid in net for the Big Red in the regular season, posting a .912 save percentage and 2.36 goals-against average. She came up huge for Cornell in the final two weeks of the regular season as the Big Red made a playoff push, backstopping the team to important wins over Yale, Dartmouth and Harvard, including a 28-save shutout of the Big Green.

In her rookie season, Hart made a name for herself, finishing the regular season third on the team and first among the team's defensemen with 18 points, including 17 assists. Her playmaking ability has been key for the Big Red, which has gone 9-0-1 when she records an assist. She posted multiple assists on six occasions, including a career-high three in a 6-4 win over Yale in January. She also set up the play that led to the overtime game-winner in the regular season finale against Harvard, which lifted the Big Red into the playoffs. In addition, Hart has been strong defensively, finishing the regular season second on the team with 53 blocked shots.
