ITHACA, N.Y. -- Freshman
Kaitlin Green took home the bars title and finished second on beam, but Penn was able to nip the Cornell gymnastics team in a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon at Teagle Gymnasium. The Quakers took first with a 190.800, while Cornell finished second at 190.450 and Cortland placed third with its 184.725.
Green continued her outstanding start with a winning 9.750 on bars, part of a 1-2-3 sweep for the Big Red, with
Elana Molotsky (9.725) and
Courtney Spitzer (9.650) rounding out the podium.
Lyanda Dudley, who won the all-around with a 38.200, posted a 9.600 that was good for fifth overall. Cornell's 48.100 bars score easily topped the field, besting both teams by more than a full point.
Green's score of 9.825 on beam was the Big Red's lone top five scorer, as Penn posted a team score of 48.525 on the day to take first with four of the top five finishers.
Dudley led Cornell on vault with a 9.550, good for third, while
Alexandria Bourgeois was sixth with a 9.450. Bourgeois also had the team's lone score among the top six on floor, finishing second with a 9.725.
Cornell remains home for a Valentine's Day matinee, welcoming Air Force, Brockport and Ithaca to Teagle Gymnasium for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday, Feb. 14.
