PRINCETON, N.J. – USRowing has announced that Tracy Eisser '12 has been nominated to represent the U.S. in the women's quadruple sculls in competition at the 2016 Olympic Games, pending final approval. Selection for the crews was determined by lineup evaluations and training camp performance in Chula Vista, Calif., and Princeton, N.J.
"Tracy was a walk-on who developed into a mainstay in the varsity eight by her senior year," said
Liz Dennison, the Staley Head Coach of Women's Rowing. "It has been awesome to watch her continued development post-Cornell while training with the national team. She certainly serves as an inspiration to many of the current rowers, most of whom have had a chance to meet her when she has been back visiting campus."
This past summer, Eisser helped qualify the US quad for the 2016 Olympic Games rowing in the two-seat as the US won its first-ever gold medal in the event at the 2015 FISA World Rowing Championships. She had previously earned a bronze medal in the US women's quad at the 2014 World Rowing Championships and a silver medal at the 2014 World Rowing Cup II.
A walk-on to the Big Red women's rowing team, Eisser capped her senior season by helping the Big Red varsity eight to a second place finish at the inaugural Ivy League Women's Rowing Championship and a bid to the 2012 NCAA Women's Rowing National Championship, where the boat placed 11th overall. For her efforts, she was named second-team CRCA All-Region and was a CRCA National Scholar Athlete award winner. She was also named second-team All-Ivy by virtue of the Big Red's second place finish.
"Tracy's achievements on the elite level, namely this most recent accomplishment of making the 2016 Olympic team, are a dream come true as a result of a lot of hard work and dedication to the sport we all love," said Dennison. "All of Cornell Rowing and I couldn't be more proud of Tracy, and we will be cheering for her and all of her teammates as they represent the United States. Go RED, White, and Blue!"
