WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Cornell gymnastics team kicked off the 2017 campaign with a fourth-place showing at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational on Saturday afternoon at George Washington's Charles E. Smith Center. The Big Red finished second on bars, ahead of the 10th-ranked Colonials, on its way to scoring a 190.825.
Kaitlin Green placed fifth on bars for the Big Red with a 9.800, with teammate
Elana Molotsky finishing 10th with a 9.700. They were the lone top 10 finishers for Cornell on the afternoon, as
Lyanda Dudley (12th on vault, 9.650),
Joy Gage (11th on beam, 9.725) and
Samantha Henry (12th on floor, 9.700) just missed cracking the milestone in a loaded field that included North Carolina and Penn as well as the host Colonials.
The Big Red will look to improve on its opening week score when Cortland visits Teagle Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 3:30 p.m.
