TOWSON, Md. -- Sophomore
Kaitlin Green led a podium sweep of bars and the Cornell gymnastics team got back to its high-scoring ways as the Big Red placed second to Towson at a tri-meet on Sunday afternoon. Cornell's 193.500 put it behind the host Tigers (194.625) and ahead of Brockport (192.425).
Green posted a 9.800 on bars, with
Payton Murphy (9.725) and
Kelsy Kurfirst (9.650) not far behind as the Big Red narrowly won the team event with a 48.100, just ahead of Towson (48.000).
The Big Red led the team race through three rotations, but Towson had a huge finish on floor (49.275), more than enough to pass Cornell's strong 48.100 on bars.
Lyanda Dudley, who placed second in the all-around (38.750), tied for first on beam (9.875), was third on floor (9.850) and took fifth on vault (9.700). Dudley's beam score matched a career high, the third-highest score in the event in school history. Green also placed fifth on beam (9.825).
The Big Red will head to Brown for the ECAC Championships on Saturday, March 18 at 12 p.m.
