Tschantz Signs Pro Deal With ECHL's Worcester Railers

ITHACA, N.Y. — Senior forward Dwyer Tschantz has signed a contract to play the remainder of the 2017-18 season with the ECHL's Worcester Railers, the team announced Tuesday evening.

Standing at an imposing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 214 pounds, Tschantz played in 66 games over his four injury-hindered seasons at Cornell. As a senior this year, he worked his way into the lineup for 12 games and had three assists and a plus-3 rating. He had the primary assist on two of the team's game-winning goals in February – first on Feb. 10 at St. Lawrence and later on Feb. 17 at Yale.

Tschantz is the first-ever Delaware native to be selected in the NHL Entry Draft, having been taken by the St. Louis Blues with the 202nd overall pick in the seventh round of the 2014 draft. In the season prior to his arrival on East Hill, Tschantz won the USHL's Clark Cup with the Indiana Ice alongside classmate Hayden Stewart. He will continue to play with a former teammate with the Railers, joining goaltender Mitch Gillam '17.

Tschantz is the first member of this year's senior class to sign on with a professional team. He will be eligible to make his professional debut at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, when the Railers host Adirondack at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass.
