Biography

Junior Season - 2010
Brodsky garnered All-Ivy League honors in his third season, earning a spot on the first team as a utility player, splitting his time between right field, first base and pitcher. He led the team in batting with a .384 average and runs scored (25) while tying for first in doubles (13 - tied for sixth-most in a single season at Cornell). Brodsky also drove in 20 runs while hitting a pair of home runs. Brodsky had 12 multi-hit games on the season and drive in multiple runs seven times. He slipped below the .300 mark for just one game during the entire season before ending the year at .384. Brodsky appeared in all 37 games on the season, and got at least one hit in 30 of those. He also drew 17 walks and posted a .477 on-base percentage. In the field, Brodsky was outstanding, committing just one error in 258 chances for a .995 fielding percentage, the fourth-highest in Cornell history. On the mound, Brodsky worked 11.1 innings in six appearances, making one start. He went 0-1 with a 7.15 earned-run average, striking out seven. He made his only start of the season on March 31 at LeMoyne, working two innings, allowing one run and striking out three.

Sophomore Season - 2009

Brodsky picked up his second straight All-Ivy League honorable mention award after batting .309 on the year with 20 runs scored and a team-best 37 runs driven in. He hit four home runs on the year to go along with seven doubles and a triple. Brodsky had 15 multi-hit games in the 40 appearances he made, including a 3-for-4 outing with two RBI and a run scored on April 11 against Penn. Brodsky also had 12 multi-RBI games, including driving in three runs four different times. Brodsky also saw extensive time on the mound, appearing in nine games and starting six times, posting a 5.59 earned-run average in 37.0 innings of work and picking up a 2-3 record. He made his first start of the year on March 18 at Saint Mary's, allowing four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts in six innings. Brodsky had his best outing of the year on April 12 against Penn, striking out six in 6.1 innings of work, allowing one earned run on six hits. Brodsky displayed outstanding control on the mound, striking out 18 while walking just five on the year.

Freshman Season - 2008
Brodsky earned All-Ivy League honorable mention as a designated hitter after batting .336 ont he year with 21 runs driven in – second on the team in both categories. He opened his career with a hit in four straight games and had at least one hit in 15 of his first 18 games. He went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI against Pitt on March 16, then followed that up with a 2-for-4 performance with a pair of runs scored four days later against Long Island. The following day against NJIT, he went 1-for-6 but scored three times and drove in another run. As the Ivy League campaign opened, he went 2-for-3 with two RBI against Penn on April 12, then went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI in game two the following day. In the series at Columbia, he went 6-for-17 with a run scored and three driven in, while opening the series against Princeton with a 4-for-4 performance including a run scored and two driven in. Brodsky drew a team-best 26 walks and was hit seven times, also a team-high, while striking out only 21 times. He also saw time on the mound, posting a 6.63 earned-run average in nine appearances. The highlight of his pitching performances was a six-inning outing in his second start of the year against Siena, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five in being the hard-luck loser in a 2-1 loss.

Before Cornell
Brodsky was named an All-Southern California selection as a senior by the Los Angeles Daily News and the Los Angeles Times, capping a season that saw him post a 10-2 record with a 2.00 earned run average. He also led his team with a .478 batting average with seven home runs and 41 runs batted in. Brodsky was also a three-time all-Los Angeles city selection and three-time all-West Valley League honoree by the Daily News and the Times. The valedictorian of his high school class, he led his team to the 2006 city championship game and pitched at Dodger Stadium. Over the course of his high school career, he earned 27 victories at Cleveland High School.

Personal
Mickey Dylan Brodsky is the son of Robert and Nan Brodsky, and he has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
