Senior Season — 2012-13
De Swardt appeared in six games to wrap up his collegiate career, all coming early in the season. He did not factor into any of the Big Red's scoring.

Junior Season — 2012-13
De Swardt saw action in a career-high 25 games, scoring multiple goals for the first time. He notched his first collegiate power-play goal on Oct. 27 in the Big Red's win over Colorado College, then he scored again on Nov. 9 in the third period of a game at Princeton. He would later add assists on Nov. 24 in the Big Red's 5-1 win over Michigan in front of a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York, and on Dec. 29 in the championship game of the Florida College Hockey Classic.

Sophomore Season — 2011-12
De Swardt came on strong during the second half of the season, appearing in 14 of the Big Red’s last 15 games. He had the primary assist on Sean Whitney’s double-overtime winner against Dartmouth in Game 1 of last weekend’s ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series. He also had a helper on Vince Mihalek's goal on Feb. 10 against Brown for his first collegiate assist.

Freshman Season — 2010-11
De Swardt appeared in 19 games as a freshman, picking up one point on his first career goal against Dartmouth on March 18. He made his collegiate debut in the season opener against New Hampshire on Oct. 29, and played in each of the team's final seven games of the season, including all five games during the ECAC Hockey playoffs.

Before Cornell
De Swardt is another big power forward who has shown strong mobility on the ice. He played in 49 games for Wenatchee of the NAHL in 2009-10, scoring 37 points on 15 goals and 22 assists during the season. He also was a +22 while recording 104 minutes in penalties. De Swardt recorded one three game-winning goals on the year, with two of those coming in the playoffs. He was named the league’s player of the week in early March after picking up five points in two games. In 2008-09, de Swardt played 29 games with the Chicago Steel of the USHL after recovering from a broken ankle, scoring two goals and adding one assist.

Personal
Armand de Swardt is the son of Awie and Lizette de Swardt and has a younger brother. His aunt, Mariaa, had a 21-year professional tennis career, representing South Africa in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics and winning a pair of Grand Slam events in mixed doubles (1999 Australian Open, 2000 French Open). He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
