Before Cornell
Baum was a Mid-Wach League All-Star for indoor track in 2009 and 2011, and made the same all-star list for outdoor track 2011. He was part of a district championship 4x100m team in 2011 and was an indoor track MVP the same year. Baum also spent time playing varsity baseball.

Jeffrey Tyler Baum is the son of Steve and Mina Baum, both Cornell graduates. He also has an older sister.
