Biography

As a senior (2016-17)
• Became a three-time All-American (2014, 2015, 2017) and EIWA champion (2015, 2016, 2017).
• Unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection finished the season 27-3.
• Became the eighth Cornell wrestler to earn first-team All-Ivy honors all four seasons.
• Finished fifth at NCAAs to claim his third All-America honor, earning a 75-second fall in his final collegiate match.
• Was ranked as high as No. 2 nationally and seeded No. 2 at NCAAs.
• Was a perfect 15-0 in dual meets to finish his career 48-1.
• Earned a 24-second fall in the first round of the EIWA Tournament.
• Had the lone takedown in the EIWA finals, taking a 3-2 victory over Lehigh’s Ryan Preisch to become a four-time NCAA qualifier.
• Closed his career with a 119-19 career mark.

As a junior (2015-16)
• Won his second straight EIWA title and was ranked as high as No. 1 in the country at 174 pounds.
• Named first-team All-Ivy League for the third straight year.
• Enters his senior year with a sparkling 92-16 career record.
• Closed his season with a 33-5 overall record with 20 bonue wins.
• Was a perfect 11-0 in dual meets (33-1 in his career) and near-perfect 21-1 against EIWA opponents.
• Won the Binghamton Open, New York State Intercollegiates and the Las Vegas Invitational.
• was 10-2 against nationally ranked opponents and 18-4 against NCAA qualifiers.
• Was injured at the NCAA championships in the first round before bowing out.

As a sophomore (2014-15)
• Was national runner-up at 157 pounds, reaching the finals at NCAAs as part of a 23-3 campaign.
• Won his first-ever EIWA title with a perfect 4-0 run, including a 6-1 triumph over American’s John Boyle in the finals.
• A unanimous first team All-Ivy selection.
• Had a 20-match win streak ended in the finals as part of a 10-2 loss to Illinois' Isaiah Martinez.
• Defeated six nationally ranked wrestlers during his run, including a 9-3 triumph over then-unbeaten and No. 1 Dylan Ness (No. 3 seed), as well as seeded wrestlers John Boyle of American (No. 8), Joey LaVallee of Missouri (No. 9), Ian Miller of Kent State (No. 7) and Mitch Minotti of Lehigh (No. 11) twice.
• Missed the first semester while recovering from a knee injury suffered at last season’s NCAA tournament.
• Was a perfect 12-0 in dual meets, 9-0 against EIWA wrestlers and 5-0 against Ivy League foes.
• Went 4-0 as part of the National Duals squad, includign a 9-3 decision over unbeaten and top-ranked Dylan Ness of Minnsota. He also topped a pair of top 20 grapplers in No. 15 Mike Kelly of Iowa and No. 17 Mitch Minotti of Lehigh.

As a freshman (2013-14)
• A 2014 All-American after finishing sixth at the NCAA championships, Realbuto finished his season with a 36-8 record.
• The unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection ranked second on the team in wins and led the squad in both falls (14) and bonus wins (25).
• Realbuto advanced to the semifinals at NCAAs with a sudden victory decision over Blaise Butler of Virginia and a dominant 11-4 triumph over defending national champion Derek St. John (Iowa) before being injured in a semifinal loss to eventual champion Alex Dieringer (Oklahoma State).
• He was forced to default out to sixth place to end his tournament.
• He finished second at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, topping a pair of NCAA qualifiers along the way.
• Realbuto was 10-1 in dual meet competition, 6-1 against Ivy foes and 15-4 in EIWA action.
• He finished third at the Binghamton Open, first at the New York State Intercollegiates, second at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and fifth at the Southern Scuffle.

Prior to Cornell
• A top 20 national recruit as a senior, Realbuto was a three-time state champion, a four-time state finalist and a five-time placewinner at Somers HS.
• He finished his five-year varsity career with a 277-12 record and five sectional titles and was named the Journal News Westchester/Putnam Wrestler of the Year three times.
• Realbuto won the 2011 Junior National freestyle tournament in Fargo.

Personal
• Brian Peter Realbuto is the son of Steve and Katherine Realbuto and has four brothers.
• His younger brother Dylan is also a member of the Big Red wrestling team.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
