NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The Big Red men's tennis team had four singles players pick up wins Saturday afternoon in the main draw of the ITA Northeast Regionals to advance to the third round held on Yale's campus. The doubles pairs of Doppelt and Goldstein along with Feldman and Gauthier also picked up wins to advance in the doubles main draw.
Jon Jaklitsch won his second round singles match, 7-6, 5-7, 7-5 over Penn State's Jamie Cox. Jaklitsch will next face Columbia's Mihai Nichifor.
Josh Goldstein defeated Adam Gross of Georgetown, 6-0, 6-2 to move to the third round. He will play the No. 4 seed Jonathan Wong of Columbia on Sunday.
Freshman Connor Sherwood lost in his second round match to Harvard's Alistair Felton, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
After having a bye in the first round,
Jeremy Feldman won his second round match over Marist's Loic Sessagesimi, 7-6, 6-1. He will take on Providence's Peter Capkovic in the third round.
Jon Fife moved past Army's Phil Muhawi by a 6-4, 6-4 score. He will play Columbia's Ekin Sezgen on Sunday.
In doubles play, Doppelt and Goldstein defeated St. Bonaventure's Mochizuki and Post, 8-6. They will next play the Brown duo of Garland and Gardner.
Feldman and Gauthier teamed up to play past Princeton's Kim and Trubov on Saturday. They will take on Harvard's Ermakov and Vergosin on Sunday.
