Box Score
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Sophomore goalkeeper
Jodi Palmer made eight saves, including two stellar stops in the second overtime, as the Cornell women's soccer team battled unbeaten Buffalo to a scoreless tie on Friday night at Berman Field in Ithaca. The draw moves Cornell's record to 1-3-1 on the year, while Buffalo is now 4-0-2 on the season.
Palmer came up huge for the Big Red in a first half that saw the Big Red out-shot 11-3, as she made four saves to keep the Bulls off the scoreboard. Despite the shot disparity, the Big Red played evenly with the Bulls for most of the first half. In the second half, both teams recorded six shots, though both Palmer and Buffalo netminder Amy Coron needed to make only one save before the game headed to extra time.
In the extra session, both goalkeepers made a clutch save on a break to keep their team's chances alive. Palmer also had a beautiful save on a shot that was destined for the underside of the crossbar, parrying the shot over the bar for a corner kick, which the Bulls could not convert on.
Coron ended the match with four saves for the Bulls, which, aided by its large first-half shot margin, out-shot the Big Red 25-15 for the match.
Cornell closes out its current four-game home stand on Sunday, taking on Maine in a noon contest at Berman Field.
