ITHACA, N.Y.—The Big Red women's tennis team lost 6-1 to Binghamton at the Reis Tennis Center on Friday night. The Bearcats grabbed the doubles point and secured the victory with five singles wins. Catherine Duboc picked up a win at the No. 5 singles slot for Cornell.
In doubles, Elizabeth Googe and Shayna Miller teamed up to defeat Basak Gone and Marina Bykovskaya at the No. 2 position, 8-3. With wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, Binghamton won the point.
At No. 1 singles, Stephanie Kent retired out of her match to Jillian Santos. At No. 4 singles, Miller won the first set, 6-2, but was passed by Bykovskaya 7-6 (4), 10-8. At No. 5 singles, Duboc defeated Gone, 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (1) to pick up the Big Red's point.
Cornell will play host to Buffalo on Saturday afternoon at noon at the Reis Tennis Center.
