ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's squash team posted a 1-2 mark in the season-opening weekend last weekend, defeating Franklin & Marshall before falling to Penn and Princeton. Cornell scored a 9-0 win over the Diplomats before falling by the same score to Penn and dropping a 7-2 decision to Princeton.

The weekend got started with the sweep over Franklin & Marshall, with all nine matches and the exhibition match being decided in straight sets. Saturday saw the team's fortunes turn, as Cornell fell to the Quakers in Philadelphia. Jesse Pacheco had the team's top match at No. 2, taking Yarden Odinak to five sets before falling. On Sunday at Princeton, Jennifer Gemmell and Maggie Remsen scored the team's only wins in a 7-2 loss.

Cornell returns to action on Sat., Dec. 4, taking on Harvard at the Belkin International Squash Courts in Ithaca.
