ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell ended the game on a 7-1 run and the Big Red pulled away from Kemptville for a 22-13 victory on Saturday at Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red improved to 6-4 with the win behind 10 goals from Max Constant.
Constant was helped by Conner Pardell and Justin Schick with four goals apiece as six different players scored at least once in the win.
Constant, Pardell and Branden Van Loon were coming off an excellent showing the William S. Field Invitational and showed their stuff in the first chukker by jumping to an 8-0 lead. Three new players entered the lineup for the Big Red, and Kemptville was able to win the second chukker 4-2 to cu tthe halftime deficit to 10-4. The visitors continued to push Cornell, cutting the lead to 14-9 at the end of three chukkers. After trading goals, Kemptville notched two more and pulled the game back to 15-12. Constant put any thoughts of a comeback on hold by scoring four straight goals, including a two-pointer, to extend the lead back to seven. After a Koyote goal, the Big Red added three more goals, including Constant's second two-pointer of the chukker that ended the scoring and secured the victory for the Big Red.
