ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell softball team split a pair of games on day one of the Rebel Games, knocking off Rider 8-0 in game on to run its win streak to seven, then falling to Army 2-1 in the afternoon contest. The Big Red end the day with a 7-1 overall mark.
In game one, Cornell pounded out 12 hits, with reigning Ivy League Player of the Year
Alyson Intihar leading the way with three hits.
Devon March had two hits, while both
Kristen Towne and Vanessa Leonard each went 2-for-2.
Elizabeth Dalrymple picked up the win with 3.2 innings of two-hit ball.
The Big Red scored three runs in both the second and third innings to blow open the contest. In all, 11 of Cornell's 12 hits were singles.
In game two, Cornell had a runner on second with no one out in the seventh, but couldn't advance the runner and eventually the Black Knights were able to retire two batters before the Big Red could even it up.
Ali Tomlinson took the hard-luck loss, allowing just four hits and striking out eight in six innings.
