Kristen Towne tied a school record with three home runs in a game one victory as Cornell split a doubleheader at Bethune-Cookman on Monday afternoon. The Big Red moved to 10-2 on the year after winning game one 8-3 and falling in the nightcap, 9-6.
Towne slammed three solo homers in the game one, 8-3 victory.
Elise Menaker, who homered in each game, also slammed a long ball as the Big Red piled up six extra-base hits.
Ali Tomlinson earned the win on the mound with six strong innings, giving up five hits.
Alyson Intihar was 6-for-7 in the doubleheader and went 3-for-3, as did
Cassie Walisiak, in the game two 9-6 loss. Cornell rallied twice to tie the game after falling behind 3-2 in the first inning, but a three-run fourth was enough to lead Bethune-Cookman to the win.
