ORLANDO, Fla. -- Cornell softball lost for the fifth time in its last six games, as the Central Florida Knights captured a 7-2 victory on Thursday afternoon at the UCF Sports Complex. The Big Red slipped to 11-6 with the loss, while UCF improved to 19-12.
Freshman
Kristen Towne blasted a home run and was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, while
Alyson Intihar and
Shannon Crane each had a pair of hits for the Cornell offense.
The Knights scored five runs in the second inning, with a grand slam by Hillary Barrow proving to be the difference. The bases loaded shot put the home team up 5-0 before adding another run in the second to go up 6-0. Cornell scratched together runs in the fourth and sixth innings, with Towne slamming a solo shot in the sixth.
