TAMPA, Fla. -- The Cornell softball team split a doubleheader at South Florida on Saturday afternoon, dropping game one 4-1 before recovering for a 4-3 victory in 11 innings in the nightcap. The Big Red moved to 12-7 with the split, while the Bulls are now 15-16.

Enter Lauren Marx out of the bullpen, who shut down the Bulls over the next six innings on just two hits with three strikeouts. The visitors finally broke through in the 11th, as Devon March singled through the right side to score Elise Menaker for the game-winning run with two outs. Alyson Intihar, Menaker and Erin Keene each had a pair of hits in the win as the Big Red snapped a string of six losses in its previous seven games.

In game one, Intihar went 2-for-4 and drove in the go-ahead run in the third with an RBI double, but the Bulls scored all four of its runs in the bottom half of that inning. The big blow came on a two-run single by Tara Toscano off Big Red starter Elizabeth Dalrymple. She gave up four runs on four hits in the third, but gave up just three hits and no runs in her other five innings on the mound.
