ITHACA, N.Y. -- For the third straight year, the Cornell heavyweight rowing team won both the Madeira Cup and the James Wray Memorial Trophy in its finale tuneup for the IRAs with a win over Penn.
The Madeira Cup is awarded to the winner of the varsity race between Cornell and Penn, while the James Wray Memorial Trophy is awarded to the overall winner of the day's races. The Madeira Cup was donated in 1955 by the late Crawford Madeira, patron of Penn row¬ing, while the James Wray Memorial Trophy was donated in 1955 by members of the 1930 Cornell IRA varsity champions.
