BOSTON — Cornell men's heavyweight rowing placed both of its Championship Four boats inside the top eight at the 2025 Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday afternoon.
Cornell's 'A' boat, coxed by
Sofie Cole and stroked by
Abe Litvak, finished seventh with a time of 15:50.663. The Big Red's 'B' entry, led by coxswain
Jack Walker and Whalid Ghamra serving as the stroke, placed eighth in 15:52.094.
The 'A' crew got off to a strong start, as Cornell sat third at the Riverside Boat Club checkpoint with a 3:30.982 split, trailing only Washington and Princeton's top entries. Upon reaching the Weld Exhibition, the Big Red had slipped to sixth and ultimately crossed the finish line in seventh. Cornell's 'B' boat climbed from ninth to eighth over the middle portion of the 3-mile course and maintained that position through the final checkpoint at Cambridge Boat Club.
Washington captured the event title in 15:15.844, narrowly edging Princeton's 'A' boat by just over half a second. British Columbia, California, and Princeton's 'B' crew rounded out the top five in the 12-boat Men's Championship Fours field.
Cornell alumni also competed across multiple events on Saturday. The Cornell Alumni Veteran Eight finished ninth and the BMA Boat Club Veteran Eight placed 12th overall.
In the Senior Master divisions, Cornell alumni placed 16th overall (13th among Senior Master Fours), and seventh in the Senior Master Eights (sixth among Senior Master-classified boats).
